Are My alarms interconnected?

For a property to be compliant for sale or lease in QLD, it must have interconnected alarms in every bedroom, a corridor connecting bedrooms together, and one alarm per story.

An easy way to test if alarms are interconnected is to hold down the "Test Button" for 5 seconds. If the other alarms in the property begin to sound, you have an interconnected smoke alarm network. Repeat this step for each alarm in the property to ensure they all form part of the same network.

Are My alarms 240v?

The easiest way to tell if smoke alarms are mains powered/240v is to look for a solid green indicator LED. The alarms are connected to the main power source if they have a power indicator LED with a constant light.

If the LED is broken or the Alarm head is missing, another indicator is to look for terminal pins connecting the smoke alarm to the base plate mounted on the ceiling. If the alarm is 240v powered, these pins will be visible when the alarm is folded open to expose the replaceable 9v battery.
